Sourced from the ancient marine beds of Madagascar, this piece stands out by offering a rare glimpse into the fossil’s internal structure. Unlike many external-facing fossils, this specimen has been expertly split to reveal a breathtaking world within. The internal chambers are filled with a stunning, gem-like iridescence, shimmering with deep reds, greens, and golds. This captivating effect is caused by a thin layer of nacre (mother of pearl) that was preserved and mineralized into aragonite over millions of years, creating the “ammolite” phenomenon.
This specimen measures approximately 10 cm in height and 12 cm in width.
