Species: Fossils lot
Family: Lot
Location: France
Age:
Rarity Level: VERY RARE

This is an exceptionally rare collector’s lot featuring a collection of various fossils from the renowned site of Normandy, France. The lot is considered very rare due to the critical fact that the original site has been closed for approximately 40 years, making these specimens a finite, non-renewable resource and a unique piece of collecting history.

The collection includes a diverse and valuable assemblage of marine fossils:

Ammonites: Extinct cephalopods with coiled shells.

Unrolled Ammonites (Heteromorphs): Unique forms of ammonites with irregularly coiled shells.

Crabs (Crustaceans): Fossils of ancient crabs.

Geological Context:
The Albian Age, which represents a time slice of the Lower Cretaceous between approximately 112 and 99.6 million years ago, is a key period for this type of fossil. This age is characterized by more than a hundred meters of clays and marls (as well as sands). The environment during this period contained a great diversity of fossils, particularly the ammonites that are included in this lot.
