Cretaceous Crustacean: Odontochellion

The fossil, with the product dates back to the Cenomanian stage of the Cretaceous Period, approximately 95 to 98 million years ago. The fine-grained limestone matrix has captured the remarkable details of this ancient arthropod, including the intricate, textured surface of its carapace and portions of its delicate appendages. The excellent preservation is a testament to the unique environmental conditions of the Sannine Formation, which allowed for the fossilization of such fragile marine life.
